Scuba Diving at Balyvaughan - Written by Andrew

Scuba Diving brought snorkelling to a whole level when we were kitted out with suits that resembled a second skin and masks ideal for a nuclear explosion. You see, I have never scuba dived before…just in case you hadn’t guessed from the programme!! Snorkelling on Dingle with Fungie the Dolphin was the closest I’ve ever been to real life sea creatures and boy was that an experience – long story! Scuba Diving on the west coast of Ireland brought a little chill to my bones when it was announced but the wet suit doubled up as thermal long johns in the middle of winter so it kept the pneumonia safely at bay. Of course, Kyle was a dab hand at this kind of thing what with having his Padi qualifications but I was confident I could master the Atlantic Ocean – no problem! Apart from almost losing my fingers to a button sized crab and beating the buoys to a game of ‘who can stay afloat the longest’ the experience was awesome.
